First... you're not crazy!

The way you've explained this, it should work.

Can you create a simple example FLA that reproduces this problem? If you can, email it over (or post it here) and I'll have a look for you.

Send along a sample BAT file as well.

The only other thing I can thinkg of that could be wrong is if you're using an old copy of proxy.exe. Make sure you have the latest one, downloaded from the blog. When you right click on the EXE and look at the version tab it should say 3.1.0.0.
